Patriots cornerback Alfonzo Dennard is set to spend the next sixty days in jail. He checks in tomorrow (March 1st) and will be there through April. Additionally, Dennard has two years of probation and 200 hours of community service to complete.
Dennard had initially been sentenced to 30 days in jail, 100 hours of community service, and two years of probation for his assault on a police officer right before he was drafted in 2012. He violated his probation when he was arrested for a DUI this past off-season, which resulted in an extension on jail time, community service, and probation.
While this won't impact the Patriots plans for this upcoming season, the Patriots have to hope that he doesn't do anything else. He's on his last chance with the law and he's due for a big pay increase for the 2015 season, the final of his rookie contract.
Let's hope that two months in jail will help set his head straight.
