Although a deal ultimately still seems unlikely, perhaps there really is something to the Darrelle Revis to the Patriots rumors. This morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter took to Twitter to write the following:
Two teams to watch on CB Darrelle Revis once Tampa releases him: Philadelphia and New England (Jets fans shudder).

In case you haven't heard, reports have indicated that if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are unable to trade star cornerback Darrelle Revis by Wednesday, they plan on releasing him.
Schefter is arguably the most well informed NFL reporter, so he's unlikely to write something like this on conjecture alone.
If the Patriots could pull off a move for Revis, it would be a dream scenario for the defense. If he were to cost 5-6 million more than Talib, I think it would be worth it considering the cap flexibility the Patriots have on other parts of the roster. All of that being said, I think the most likely way that Revis gets to New England is through a trade. If he hits the open market, the Patriots probably won't win a bidding war... but who knows.
This will be a situation to monitor as the day goes on.
