The New England Patriots figure to be more active on day two of free agency than they were day one. We already knew that former Broncos linebacker Wesley Woodyard would be visiting today. Now, we have another name to add to the list: Carolina Panthers wide receiver Brandon LaFell. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports:
Carolina free-agent WR Brandon LaFell is visiting today with the New England Patriots, per source.

LaFell is a big, 6'2" 210 lbs receiver who was a 3rd round pick of the Carolina Panthers out of LSU back in 2010. He's been a starter on the outside for them the past two seasons. In 2013, playing and starting all 16 games, he recorded 49 receptions for 627 yards and five touchdowns.
While LaFell likely wouldn't be a starter for the Patriots, as he isn't the most explosive receiver, he would give the Patriots some valuable depth while they wait for Aaron Dobson to recover from foot surgery. He'd also provide more size to the Patriots' receiving corps, something that they sorely lacked in 2013 (outside of Dobson).
