Report: 2014 NFL Schedule Release Coming Wednesday or Thursday

According to a report, the NFL will announce their 2014 regular season schedule on Wednesday or Thursday of this week.

Rob Foldy-USA TODAY Sports

While early reports indicated that the 2014 NFL Schedule release would come Tuesday of this week, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com is now reporting that the schedule release will come on Wednesday or Thursday:

The NFL still doesn’t have a firm plan for the release of the 2014 regular-season schedule. A source with knowledge of the process says the current target is Wednesday, with the possibility it will be nudged to Thursday.

As of last week, Tuesday was the target, with a caveat that the release date could slide to Wednesday or Thursday.

Florio points out that the reason for the delay could be due to the start of the NBA and NHL playoffs, which would take away from the buzz that the NFL will generate from their announcement / event. In my opinion, the smartest thing to do would be to announce a schedule release day around the same time the league announces its 2014 offseason calendar.

While the schedule will reveal information such as dates / times, travel distances, primetime games, bye weeks, etc, we already know who and where the Patriots will be playing in 2014:

Home: Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions

Away: Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings
