With the 198th pick in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots have made a selection, taking defensive end Zach Moore out of Concordia University St. Paul (the first player ever selected from this school)
Team Needs:
TE | DT | DE | LB | OG/C | S | RB | QB
Thoughts: The Patriots went into this draft needing another pass rusher. Moore could compete in that area, but is a versatile piece who can play multiple spots on the line and who has great length and athleticism.
Patriots Draft Picks:
Round 1, Pick 29: Dominique Easley, DL, Florida
Round 2, Pick 62: Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Eastern Illinois
Round 4, Pick 105: Brian Stork, C, Florida State
Round 4, Pick 130: James White, RB, Wisconsin
Round 4, Pick 140 (Compensatory): Cameron Fleming, OT, Stanford
Round 6, Pick 179: Jon Halapio, G, Florida
Round 6, Pick 198 (via Philadelphia): Zach Moore, DE, Concordia St. Paul
Round 6, Pick 206: Today
Round 7, Pick 244: Today
Instant Grade: B-
Moore is a sleeper who played at Division II Concordia St. Paul. He's not a pure pass rusher, and can play multiple spots. He might not make the final roster, but this late in the draft, why not take a shot in the dark on a player who most already saw as draftable?
