Open thread and preview for the third day of Patriots training camp.

Stew Milne-USA TODAY Sports

And so it begins.  After holding their first two practice sessions in shells and shorts, the Patriots will be in full pads for the first time for this, day three of training camp. This morning's session will begin at 9:15 AM and is once again open to the public.  For more information on attending the session, you can call the Patriots' training camp hotline at 508-549-0001.

Roster Update:

The Patriots released tight end Nate Byham yesterday, trimming the roster back to 89 players.

What to Watch:

We'll keep an eye on the trenches today, where we are likely to see our first one vs. one's between offensive and defensive lineman.  It will provide a good avenue to evaluate rookie linemen such as Jon Halapio and Bryan Stork.  We'll also get to see whether or not Vince Wilfork is operating full-speed ahead.

We could also get to see some goal line team drills, which is always physical and a good time.

Feel free to keep it here to discuss the first day of Patriots training camp!
