Yesterday evening, the New England Patriots officially downgraded cornerback Alfonzo Dennard to out for the team's Monday night football match-up against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Dennard injured his shoulder week one, and this will be his third total game missed.
With Dennard out, the Patriots will continue to use Logan Ryan and Kyle Arrington on the outside and in the slot. Rookie Malcolm Butler could see some time in dime packages.
Both Ryan and Arrington have performed well the last two weeks with Dennard out. Once Brandon Browner returns from his suspension later this week, the Patriots are going to need to figure out their corner rotation, and quickly. If Dennard continues to miss games, he'll be in danger of losing out on a spot. The Patriots have had a good thing going for them in the defensive backfield, and they might not want to risk that chemistry. This is especially true if Dennard cannot consistently stay on the field.
In his one game played in 2014, Dennard has two tackles and one interception.
