According to the Boston Globe's Shalise Manza-Young, the Patriots are expected to post some changes on the offensive interior.
The current understanding is that Dan Connolly will be moved to left guard to support tackle Nate Solder, a move we support and have discussed here. Rookie Bryan Stork is slated to start at center, while fellow rookie Cameron Fleming is expected to take the right guard role.
Fleming at right guard should come as a surprise as he was drafted as a tackle and has no guard experience. Still, Jordan Devey and Marcus Cannon both played at levels that didn't inspire any confidence.
Starting two rookies against a formidable Chiefs defensive line doesn't bring much confidence, but it's hard to imagine a line playing more poorly than it has through this point in the season. The big stage of Monday Night Football is a tough first start, but as long as they "do their job" they should be fine.
Of course, it's not the first case of a rookie under Bill Belichick getting their first start on Monday Night Football. LT Nate Solder and CB Ras-I Dowling both opened up the 2011 season as starters on Monday Night against the division rival Dolphins. 2011 savior Sterling Moore actually got his second start on Monday Night against the Chiefs.
It's happened before. Let's see how the line plays out.
