Despite falling behind 7-0 in the opening minutes, the New England Patriots lead the Miami Dolphins 20-10 at halftime of week one.
New England got behind early after a Ryan Allen punt was blocked on the opening series. The Dolphins took over in the Patriots' red zone, and capitalized on the opportunity with a quick Ryan Tannehill to Lamar Miller touchdown throw.
The Patriots did answer in spectacular fashion with a grinding 13 play, 80 yard drive that used countless personnel formations. Brady was sharp on the drive, spread the ball around, and Shane Vereen capped things off with a one yard touchdown run.
Defensively, the Patriots haven't been spectacular, but they have gotten the job done, mostly by forcing turnovers. Alfonzo Dennard had a nice interception on a beautiful high point grab, and was assisted by pressure from Dominique Easley and Dont'a Hightower. The team also recovered two fumbles - forced by Jamie Collins and Logan Ryan.
The offensive line has seen some shuffling of personnel - but it's been Solder and Vollmer at the bookends. Devey, Connolly, Cannon, and Wendell have rotated inside. Of course, can't talk about the offense without mentioning the Brady to Gronkowski touchdown. And oh yeah, Julian Edelman has been money so far.
The Dolphins get the ball to begin the second half. Discuss the game here!
