The Patriots brought in Hakeem Nicks for a workout today, according to Field Yates. They also worked out RB Isaiah Peadand tight end Nick Kasa.
Nicks, I'm sure you'll all remember, spent 2014 with the Indianapolis Colts, where he caught 38 passes for 405 yards and four touchdowns before being let go. He signed on with the Tennessee Titans in April of this year, but was among the final roster cuts this past August.
I'm sure that some will say that this is gamesmanship on the part of Bill Belichick, trying out a former Colt in the days before the Pats travel to Indy. But at this point, there really isn't anything that Nicks can bring to the table that Belichick will find helpful, and is really more a case of due diligence. Nicks has been a productive receiver in the past, and the 27 year-old could prove useful in the right system.
As for Pead, he has never really panned out at the pro level. The former 2nd round draft pick only played 25 games with the Rams, as he violated the NFL's substance abuse policy in 2013 and blew out his ACL in 2014. St. Louis cut him at the end of September to make room for Todd Gurley.
Nick Kasa was drafted by the Raiders in 2013, played the entire season, but was cut the following year after failing a physical.
