Fresh off their divisional win over the New York Jets, the New England Patriots need a quick turn-around as the team faces another AFC East rival, the Miami Dolphins, on Thursday. While the Patriots beat the Jets 30-23, they had to do so without some key players. It seems as if those players are also long-shots to play in two days.
Per patriots.com, here is today's injury report:
OT Marcus Cannon (Toe): DNP
LB Rufus Johnson (Illness): DNP
DE Jabaal Sheard (Ankle): DNPRB Brandon Bolden (Hamstring): LP
RB Dion Lewis (Abdomen): LP
WR Keshawn Martin (Hamstring): LP
OG Shaq Mason (Knee): LPDE Trey Flowers (Knee/Shoulder): FP
LB Dont'a Hightower (Ribs): FP
OG Josh Kline (Shoulder): FP
Cannon, Johnson and Sheard will most likely not dress against Miami. Given that the Patriots have a mini-bye after their Thursday night game it also wouldn't be a surprise to see some of the limited players out or at least on a limited snapcount. At this point of the season, there is absolutely no need to rush anyone back.
The most likely candidate to play out of the group of limited participants is Dion Lewis, who was a game-day decision against the Jets and was close but not close enough to be declared active.
