The (8-0-0) New England Patriots will travel to face the (5-4-0) New York Giants.
Somehow, someway New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick holds a 1-5 record against New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin, including two losses when the two were with the Browns and Jaguars, respectively. That boggles my mind.
With a victory, the Patriots will become the third team to post 15 consecutive winning seasons since the merger, and they are already the only team with 14 straight since free agency started in 1993.
There are plenty of connections with the two teams. Bill Belichick used to be the defensive coordinator for the Giants, while offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo used to hold the same role in New York. Former Patriots special teamer Larry Izzo is the special teams coach for the Giants, while running back Shane Vereen and linebacker Jonathan Casillas were on the Patriots Super Bowl team last season. Safety Brandon Meriweather is also on the New York roster.
The Giants love to take players (Mark Herzlich, Andre Williams) and coaches (Tom Coughlin) from Boston College, while the Patriots have a history of grabbing players from Rutgers (literally everyone).
