The New England Patriots lost wide receiver Julian Edelman in the first half with a reported foot injury. Edelman did not leave the locker room after halftime and was spotted with a boot and crutches after the game. NESN's Doug Kyed reported that Edelman was carted to the team bus.

Julian Edelman's injury is to his fifth metatarsal, believed to be a true Jones fracture. Possible return for playoff

Edelman is the Patriots top receiver and the offense won't be the same if he's done for the year. While some players can return in 7-8 weeks from this injury, just in time for the playoffs, it should be noted that this is the same injury that Aaron Dobson suffered during his rookie season. It is also the same injury that Dez Bryant suffered earlier in the season, and he has returned without an issue.
The Patriots would really struggle if they added Edelman to the injured reserve, alongside key starters Dion Lewis and Nate Solder. Wide receiver Danny Amendola can be expected to pick up most of the slack, while Keshawn Martin will hopefully be healthy and able to contribute.
We will report more news as we hear it.
