Patriots wideout Julian Edelman had successful foot surgery today and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks, according to Albert Breer.
Edelman suffered the exact same injury as Dez Bryant, who was back on the field after six weeks. If Edelman's recovery follows suit, he could be back as early as Week 16, when the Patriots travel to New York to take on the Jets. Depending on how the rest of the year plays out, the Patriots could opt to sit Edelman for the remainder of the regular season and bring him back for the playoffs. if New England is successful in procuring a first round bye, Edelmen will have had nine full weeks of recovery time before the AFC Divisional Round, which is more than long enough.
A lot of balls still in the air here, but at the moment all signs point to Julian Edelman returning to action this season, which is the best news we can hope for at this point. More updates as they come in.
