On Sunday night, the 10-0 Patriots and 8-2 Broncos will face off in Denver in a game with potentially serious playoff implications. The problem for New England: the team is far from healthy, especially on the offensive side of the football. A look at today's injury report makes this very clear.
Via patriots.com, here is the participation list of today's walkthrough:
WR Matthew Slater (Not Injury Related): DNP
WR Danny Amendola (Knee): DNP
CB Justin Coleman (Hand): DNP
LB Jamie Collins (Illness): DNP
WR Aaron Dobson (Ankle): DNP
WR Julian Edelman (Foot): DNP
DT Alan Branch (Elbow): LP
OT Marcus Cannon (Toe): LP
OG Tre' Jackson (Knee): LP
DE Chandler Jones (Abdomen): LP
WR Keshawn Martin (Hamstring): LP
OG Shaq Mason (Knee): LP
OT Sebastian Vollmer (Concussion): LP
TE Michael Williams (Knee): LP
Of the 14 players listed, three have already been declared out for Sunday's match-up: cornerback Justin Coleman as well as wide receivers Julian Edelman and Aaron Dobson. The trio likely won't travel to Denver with the team.
Danny Amendola, who left Monday's game against the Bills with a knee injury, was spotted at today's walkthrough, which is a good sign even though he didn't officially participate. However, it seems as if the team is cautiously optimistic and constructs his gameplan with Amendola in its collective mind.
Jamie Collins, according to media reports, is back at the Patriots' facilities but did not yet practice with the team. It remains to be seen if he is able to enter a stage in his recovery that allows him to again practice with his teammates and potentially play on Sunday.
At this point in time, the other players on the report should probably be good to go or at worst gametime decisions.
