The New England Patriots are not a healthy team right now. Their starting left tackle and 3rd down running back are two of 15 players on injured reserve. Their number one receiver is out the next few weeks with a broken foot. His replacement is out for today's game, as is one of the team's starting linebackers.
And now, the team announced that their starting strong safety is also questionable to participate in today's game against the Denver Broncos. According to the Patriots, Patrick Chung has been added to the injury report:
Patrick Chung has been added to the injury report with a foot injury. His game status is questionable.#NEvsDEN
If Chung should be unable to play tonight, it would be a blow to the Patriots' defense. He is one of the best strong safeties in the game and plays a majority of defensive snaps. Not only does New England use him to cover opposing tight ends (especially with Jamie Collins out), he is also a very good run defender from his close-to-the-line strong safety spot.
The Patriots have plenty of depth at the position and – if Chung should be unable to play tonight – would probably turn to Tavon Wilson or rookie Jordan Richards to replace him and take over his responsibilities.
