New England Patriots Clinch AFC East for Record-Tying 7th Consecutive Season

The Patriots have clinched the 2015 AFC East Division Title!

The Miami Dolphins lost to the New York Giants on Monday Night Football, which clinches the AFC East Crown for the New England Patriots for a record-tying 7th consecutive season.

The Patriots needed the Dolphins to lose in order to claim the strength of schedule tiebreaker over the New York Jets. New England has tied the 1973-1979 Los Angeles Rams for the most consecutive divisional titles.

New England has now won 13 of the past 15 AFC East crowns, the best 15 season stretch in NFL history, surpassing the Joe Montana- and Steve Young-led San Francisco 49ers that won 12 out of 15 NFC West titles in the 1980s and 1990s.

Congratulations to Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and the rest of the New England Patriots as they continue on their march for a first round bye and homefield advantage in the NFL Playoffs.

The division title means that the Patriots are guaranteed one of the first three seeds in the AFC and a minimum of one home playoff game. Read the New England playoff clinching scenarios here.
