Can someone please turn off "injuries" in the game settings? This is getting ridiculous.
ESPN's Mike Reiss reports that New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount is currently on crutches, which casts serious doubts on the bruiser's availability for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans.
Blount was finally playing well and running with determination, but a hip injury forced him out of the game. The Patriots had to rely on back-up Brandon Bolden to carry the ball for the second half.
The Patriots currently have just two healthy running backs on the roster in Bolden and receiving back James White. Bolden is one of the team's most important special teams players, so the Patriots will absolutely have to add another running back to the active roster, regardless of Blount's availability.
New England just released Trey Williams from the roster, although he would be unable to fill Blount's role as the lead back. The Patriots have worked out running back Terrence MaGee of the Ravens practice squad, and free agent Daryl Richardson.
A player like wide receiver Damaris Johnson, or linebackers Eric Martin and Darius Fleming, would likely be released to make space for a potential running back.
The Patriots have now suffered a key injury to an offensive starter in six consecutive weeks as Dion Lewis, Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Rob Gronkowski, Josh Kline, and Blount have been pulled.
For those wondering about running back Jonas Gray, the Jacksonville Jaguars just signed him off the Miami Dolphins' practice squad on Tuesday morning.
