The already banged-up New England Patriots have left Sunday's victory over the Houston Texans with more injured bodies. While the injuries to running back LeGarrette Blount, safety Devin McCourty and linebacker Jonathan Freeny are not considered overly serious, the one to the fourth player to leave the game is.
According to Tom Curran, the Patriots will place defensive tackle Dominique Easley on injured reserve:
Bad news on DL. Dominique Easley headed to IR.
Easley has been an integral part of New England's interior pass rush this season, as he has looked every bit as advertised prior to his selection in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He was quick, strong at the point of attack and disruptive at the line of scrimmage.
Unfortunatley, the 23-year old has struggled with injuries his entire career. He tore his ACLs in both knees during his days as a Florida Gator – which caused him to fall to the Patriots in the draft – and ended his rookie year on injured reserve. Now, Easley will see another season cut short due to injuries.
Get well soon, Dominique!
