The New England Patriots had some positive play from their running backs as Joey Iosefa and Brandon Bolden were fairly successful against the Titans. It apparently wasn't enough.
ESPN's Josina Anderson reports that the Patriots will be signing veteran RB Steven Jackson to a 1-year contract for the rest of the season, while NFL Network's Ian Rapoport highlights the deal will be for the veteran minimum.
The 32-year-old running back has been out of football this season after collecting 855 yards on 210 touches in 15 games for the Atlanta Falcons last season. Jackson offers versatility in all three facets of the game as a rusher, blocker, and receiver.
The Patriots originally wanted to draft running back Steven Jackson in the 2004 NFL Draft, but defensive tackle Vince Wilfork fell down the draft board and New England couldn't pass up on the opportunity for pennies on the dollar.
Jackson should have fresh legs for the final stretch of the season. He has only played in two playoff games in his lengthy career.
