Happy Holidays, everyone! Since Christmas is the time to spend with family and loved ones, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has decided to cancel today's practice session. While the players had a day off, the team still has to release its league-mandated injury report.
Let's take a look at it (via patriots.com):
LB Jonathan Freeny (Hand): OUT
WR Julian Edelman (Foot): DOUBTFUL
WR Danny Amendola (Knee): QUESTIONABLE
TE Scott Chandler (Knee): QUESTIONABLE
SS Patrick Chung (Foot): QUESTIONABLE
SS Nate Ebner (Ankle): QUESTIONABLE
LB Dont'a Hightower (Knee): QUESTIONABLE
OG Josh Kline (Shoulder): QUESTIONABLE
WR Brandon LaFell (Foot): QUESTIONABLE
FS Devin McCourty (Ankle): QUESTIONABLE
CB Justin Coleman (Hand): PROBABLE
DE Chandler Jones (Abdomen): PROBABLE
As of today, the team has ruled only one player out to participate in Sunday's game against the New York Jets: linebacker Jonathan Freeny, who broke a bone in his hand two weeks ago and was not seen on the field since. Because fellow linebacker Dont'a Hightower is listed as questionable, expect Jerod Mayo to once again play a considerable number of snaps.
While wide receiver Julian Edelman has not yet been officially ruled out, he seems like a safe bet to join Freeny on the sidelines on Sunday. After all, he is too valuable of a player to risk anything. The same could also probably be said about Danny Amendola, Dont'a Hightower and Devin McCourty.
Still, the players listed as questionable will be game-time decisions – the Patriots need to declare six more players inactive – while those listed as probable should be good to go.
Via newyorkjets.com, here is the Jets' final injury report of the week:
CB Dee Milliner (Hamstring): DOUBTFUL
WR Quincy Enunwa (Neck): QUESTIONABLE
TE Kellen Davis (Back): PROBABLE
WR Eric Decker (Knee): PROBABLE
QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Thumb): PROBABLE
OT Breno Giacomini (Ankle): PROBABLE
LB David Harris (Back): PROBABLE
OC Nick Mangold (Hand): PROBABLE
WR Brandon Marshall (Ankle): PROBABLE
CB Dexter McDougle (Ankle): PROBABLE
LB Calvin Pace (Abdomen): PROBABLE
QB Geno Smith (Illness): PROBABLE
As can be seen via their injury report, the Jets enter Sunday's game in good physical shape. While a lot of players are listed as probable, the key contributors on the list are expected to dress against New England.
