Despite dominating the vast majority of the first half, the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles are tied at 14 heading into halftime of their week 13 match-up.
New England and Philadelphia both started slow on offense, as the Patriots' offensive line struggled to protect Tom Brady early. Josh Kline and Shaq Mason, in particular, struggled.
However, the Patriots would turn it around on offense, scoring touchdowns on Tom Brady throws on consecutive drives to take a 14-0 lead. The first score was by James White, following a beautiful 30-yard catch and run by Scott Chandler. The second was to Danny Amendola, on a play in which he burned an Eagles defender on a corner route in the end zone.
After the second touchdown, things fell apart for New England. They got cute on the next kick-off, trying a Nate Ebner drop kick (yes, drop kick) to try and recover the ball. Philadelphia recovered, and took advantage of the great field position to cut the score to 14-7. Before this drive, Philadelphia had yet to cross midfield.
The Patriots would get the ball back with less than two minutes remaining, and couldn't seem to decide if they preferred to run the clock out or go for it. Either way, they stalled, and then disaster hit. On the ensuing Ryan Allen punt, Jonathan Freeny missed his blocker, and Chris Maragos of the Eagles blocked the kick. Najee Goode would scoop up the loose ball and bring it to the house.
And now, we have a tie game.
