The Patriots are coming off two straight losses and naturally try to end this negative streak. On Sunday, against the Houston Texans, they apparently will have to do so without a couple of key contributors – but still a lot healthier than the last couple of weeks.
Via patriots.com, here is the team's injury report:
SS Patrick Chung (Foot): DNP
WR Julian Edelman (Foot): DNP
TE Rob Gronkowski (Knee): DNP
WR Danny Amendola (Knee): LP
TE Scott Chandler (Knee): LP
CB Justin Coleman (Hand): LP
LB Dont'a Hightower (Knee): LP
OG Josh Kline (Shoulder): LP
FS Devin McCourty (Shoulder): LP
WR Matthew Slater (Stinger): LP
OT Marcus Cannon (Toe): FP
DE Chandler Jones (Abdomen): FP
TE Michael Williams (Knee): FP
The abscenses Gronkowski and Edelman, given their respective injuries, are not surprising but seeing Patrick Chung miss today's session is. While he was listed on the report the last couple of weeks due to his foot injury, the safety did not miss any practice or playing time because of it. No injury was announced during last week's game either.
Not only Chung's situation needs to be watched closely, the list of limited players also includes some newly added key contributors: guard Josh Kline, safety Devin McCourty and special teamer Matthew Slater were all added to the report today. All three are starters and the Patriots would greatly benefit from them being available against a formidable Texans squad.
Not all is bad, though. Seeing Jamie Collins and Dominique Easley removed from the list is definitely encouraging.
