6. Opposite Ends of the Spectrum
This one GIF sums up every single emotion that every single person watching the game felt. There's no in between. You were either thrilled that the Patriots won and the Seahawks lost (New England fans, the NFC), or you were heart broken that the Patriots won and the Seahawks lost (Seattle fans, the AFC).
I have no idea what reaction the cameraperson was expecting with the focus on Richard Sherman, but this had to exceed every possible expectation. Tom Brady jumping up and down like a pogo stick is silly and happy and I love it. Sherman's digestion of the interception is someone reaching for a piece of wood in a shipwreck, only to find Rose taking up the whole damn door.
11. Chris Jones Vertical
This redemption arc has to be one of the more amazing in the NFL, yet it's mostly forgotten in the aftermath of the year.
In 2013, the Patriots lost to the Jets in overtime after Rex Ryan told the refs that the Patriots violate the rules in field goal formations. Chris Jones was used to push other defensive linemen to get them closer to the football's trajectory. This is not allowed. This is also a penalty that has only ever been called once- and it was on Chris Jones in overtime on a field goal attempt. The Jets received 15 free yards and made the subsequent field goal attempt.
This is 2014. The Jets continue to play New England closer than ever should have been acceptable. The Jets line up for a game winning field goal attempt. Jones redeems himself with the block against the same team where it all started.
This couldn't be scripted any better.
