The New England Patriots may be in the market for a passing back, following news earlier this afternoon that Shane Vereen is likely to sign with the New York Giants.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, former Saints, Dolphins, and Lions running back Reggie Bush is considering signing with the Patriots:
Reggie Bush is considering a potential return to the #Saints. Also considering the #Patriots and the #49ers, I’m told.

On paper, Bush would make a lot of sense for New England, obviously outside of the name intrigue. He has the type of versatility the Patriots like in their passing backs, he’s likely in line for a below market deal following a down year in Detroit, and probably would not mind a shot at a ring with Tom Brady and co.
Nonetheless, the Patriots probably will not stretch their reach too much to land Bush. The team is also interested in Roy Helu, who is younger and perhaps a lower-cost alternative.
