No, no need to check your calendar. It's not April Fool's Day.
According to Pro Football Talk, the New York Jets have filed tampering charges against the Patriots based on some remarks that team owner Robert Kraft said about Darrelle Revis.

Exactly what those comments are is anybody's guess, unless they are referring to the following statement he made on Monday:
"We thought we made a very competitive offer [to Revis]," Kraft said in a media address. "I speak as a fan of the New England Patriots, we wanted to keep him. We wanted him in our system, and we have certain disciplines. We had hoped it worked out. It didn't. We just don't think about short-term decisions. For example, next year we have three very good young defensive players coming up and we have to factor that."
Now I'm no expert, but that sounds to me like the generic comments of every owner who loses a player to free agency. Furthermore, Revis was a free agent long before these comments were made, so there has to be a comment I'm missing somewhere. Because this makes absolutely zero sense. But since it's the Patriots, I'm sure we can all expect a national scandal and a proposal for more rule changes stating that players deemed good by more than 40% of league owners can't ever sign with New England again.
We'll be sure to keep monitoring this. It seems beyond laughable - but then again, I once said that about a butthurt beat writer trying to make excuses why the Colts lost so badly, so what do I know.
