With the draft pick that they acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Logan Mankins trade, the New England Patriots have selected Trey Flowers, defensive end, out of Arkansas with the 101st selection in the 4th round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
Flowers add yet more depth and competition to the Patriots defensive line. At a shade over 6'2" and 266 lbs, Flowers is an active, relentless edge player who many projected to go on day two of the draft. He can rush from the outside, the inside. He has a good first step, but isn't a quick-twitch athlete as an edge rusher. He has long arms, which helps him engage.
Flowers' addition isn't a great sign for the roster longevity of Jake Bequette and Michael Buchanan. But wow, the Patriots have really re-stocked their front seven this draft.
What are your initial thoughts on the pick?
