The New England Patriots will wrap up their 2015 NFL Draft crop with a pair of selections in the seventh round.
With the first of those picks, at 247, the Patriots selected Darryl Roberts, cornerback out of Marshall. Roberts was a late riser following a terrific Pro Day. Read what Gil Brandt of NFL.com had to say on his performance:
Running indoors on Field Turf, cornerback Darryl Roberts clocked times of 4.39 and 4.36 in the 40-yard dash, including a 1.48 10-yard split. He also had a 39-inch vertical and 11-1 broad jump. He ran a 4.08 short shuttle and 6.66 3-cone drill, and had 23 bench-press reps. He had an excellent workout, and a number of teams will be bringing him in for interviews after his pro day.
Roberts is competitive in coverage, but probably needs to add some strength in the NFL at just 187 lbs. Nonetheless, he has the length and quickness you look for out of a boundary corner. Like seriously, those agility numbers are incredible. He will be an interesting prospect to watch develop.
What are your thoughts on the selection of Roberts?
