The New England Patriots have announced the signing of all but two of their rookie class.
Those that are now under contract:
2nd round pick DB Jordan Richards
3rd round pick DL Geneo Grissom
4th round pick ED Trey Flowers
4th round pick IOL Tre Jackson
4th round pick IOL Shaq Mason
6th round pick LB Matthew Wells
6th round pick TE A.J. Derby
7th round pick DB Darryl Roberts
7th round pick ED Xzavier Dickson
1st round pick DT Malcom Brown has not signed his contract, which is reasonable since the top round typically takes the most time to negotiate what little leverage exists. It's likely Brown wants to see the contract structure of those selected around him (how much guaranteed money?) before signing his papers.
5th round pick LS Joe Cardona is also unsigned, but his situation is extremely unique. His status and availability for the next couple of seasons is up for question due to his commitments to the Navy.
That both of these players are the only two without a contract makes plenty of sense.
New England also announced the signings of seven undrafted free agent rookies:
IOL David Andrews
WR Devin Gardner
WR Chris Harper
DB Jimmy Jean
DB Brandon King
DB Eric Patterson
DL Vince Taylor
While most of these names look to be practice squad faces, these prospects often become fan favorites as they fight to make the active roster. All of them have tremendous ability and talent.
Welcome to Foxboro!
