MMQB: Tom Brady the Best Quarterback in the League

MMQB's Andy Benoit ranks Tom Brady as the top quarterback in the league.

If you look at any given ranking of active NFL quarterbacks, you'll find that Aaron Rodgers is either #1 or #2. It's generally understood that Rodgers is the most talented quarterback in the league, capable of making every throw from any position, under any sort of pressure.

In the latest ranking from Monday Morning Quarterback, author Andy Benoit places Patriots quarterback Tom Brady ahead of every single quarterback in the league.

"No player of this era has done more with less," Benoit writes. "Talk to coaches around the league and they'll tell you that however much command you think Brady has over that offense, triple it, and that's about the actual amount."

Football writer Cian Fahey notes that there is only one quarterback that is ever ranked ahead of Rodgers: Tom Brady.

Fahey also notes that when Rodgers is ranked #1, Brady isn't always given the #2 spot- that goes to a mix of Peyton Manning, Tony Romo, Ben Roethlisberger, even Andrew Luck. It's a specific type of quarterback evaluator that offers the #1 Brady, #2 Rodgers combo, and it's one who typically values team success, pre-snap adjustments, and an appreciation for the dearth of offensive weapons that Brady has had in comparison to his contemporaries.

The debate for the best quarterback will always continue to rage on. Let's hope Brady plays the 2015 season at a level worthy of the #1 spot.
