If a supplemental draft starts and no one is around to submit a draft pick, did it ever happen?
There are seven players eligible for the supplemental draft, and if a team were to select one of them, the franchise would lose their corresponding draft pick in the 2016 draft. Teams submit ballots with whatever value they'd be willing to give up to obtain the player. The team giving up the highest round pick wins the player, with ties going by draft order.
Per CBS Sports, here's the list of players:
Clemson offensive tackle Isaiah Battle, West Georgia edge rusher Darrius Caldwell, Houston defensive end Eric Eiland, Connecticut tight end Sean McQuillan, Kansas defensive back Kevin Short, West Georgia defensive tackle Dalvon Stuckey and North Carolina Central wideout and returner Adrian Wilkins.
Clemson's Battle is the only player expected to be drafted.
Bill Belichick hasn't used a supplemental draft pick on a player. Don't count on him using one now.
