While New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady won't be available for tonight's game, plenty of interesting prospects will be making their claim for a roster spot. Back-up quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will be able to show what he's made of and the brand new secondary will be on the field for the first time.
The following is a list of players that likely won't be on the field as they have been injured and/or unavailable to practice:
Quarterback: Tom Brady
Receivers: Aaron Dobson, Julian Edelman, Brandon LaFell, Matthew Slater, and Brian Tyms
Running Backs: LeGarrette Blount, Travaris Cadet, and Dion Lewis
Tight Ends: Jake Bequette and Scott Chandler
Offensive Linemen: Marcus Cannon, Caylin Hauptmann, Nate Solder, Bryan Stork, Ryan Wendell
Defensive Linemen: Chris Jones, Joe Vellano
Linebackers: Dane Fletcher, Dont'a Hightower, and Eric Martin
As a result, look for wide receivers Danny Amendola and Brandon Gibson to receive a major opportunity to show their skills. This is also a major opportunity for running backs Brandon Bolden, Jonas Gray, and James White. Don't be surprised if rookie offensive linemen Tre Jackson and Shaq Mason to see a large portion of the game.
This might be the first time we get to see linebacker Jerod Mayo back in action, which will be fun to watch.
