Patriots Sign DL Casey Walker

The Patriots bolstered their defensive tackle depth by re-signing Casey Walker.

The New England Patriots announced today that they have signed free agent defensive lineman Casey Walker.

As you may remember, Walker was with the Patriots in 2014 after  . Walker played in five games for the Patriots in 2014 and earned one start when the Patriots' defensive tackle depth was depleted due to injury. He impressed at times due to his size (6-1, 340) and ability to push the pocket.

The Patriots released Walker in November to make room for LeGarrette Blount. He landed on the practice squad for a bit before being signed to the Ravens' 53-man roster. The Ravens released Walker on August 5th, clearing way for his return to the team.

Walker will be a long shot to make the final roster due to the immense depth the Patriots have at the position. However, he does have practice squad eligibility remaining.

The signing of Walker brings the Patriots back to the maximum of 90 players on their roster. They opened a space earlier in the week when they placed running back Tyler Gaffney on injured reserve.
