The Patriots added some additional depth to their offensive line today, claiming guard Harland Gunn on waivers from the Atlanta Falcons.
Gunn entered the NFL out of Miami as a free agent in 2012, where he appeared in 13 total games over the past two seasons. The 25-year-old has good size (6'2", 310 lbs.) and provides some depth along the offensive line as the Patriots deal with some initial injuries in these opening days of camp. Tackle Kevin Hughes didn't practice today after injuring his shoulder on Saturday, forcing the Patriots to move Jordan Devy from guard to tackle in his absence.
It's unlikely that Gunn is anything more than a camp body at this point, but the offensive line remains something to watch going forward as New England continues to shuffle guys around. Look for Tre Jackson and Shaq Mason to continue seeing first team reps, with Gunn coming in as more of a reserve player.
