New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had a pretty good practice on Thursday. He completed 28 of 32 passing attempts, including two drops by Rob Gronkowski and a batted pass at the line of scrimmage. 13 of those passes were touchdowns.
Brady was on a whole different planet from those he was competing with, both mentally and physically. Just wait until he comes to Earth to play football.
If you haven't been paying attention, Brady has been mired in the dumbest sports controversy this side of Space Jam. He says he's not affected and that he's just playing football. That's also the company line. Those close to Brady know that the fact his name is rolling around in the mud is making him angry. It's frustrating him.
Former Patriots wide receiver and future Hall of Famer Randy Moss shared his thoughts with the press.
"One thing you all have to realize is that Tom is human," Moss said after Thursday's practice against the New Orleans Saints. "I'm not going to sit up here and tell you it doesn't affect him. Not only does it affect him, it affects everybody in his circle. It's just something as a professional, you just have to live with it and just move on from it."
If Brady can go 28/32 when he's affected, just imagine how crisp he'll be when this trial is in the past. Moss also shed some light on how Brady is now like Neo in the Matrix.
"He looked good," Moss opined. "It looks like the game has slowed down for him. Any time the game slows down for you, that's dangerous because that means he's able to think a little bit slower, to be able to make decisions for the offense. So it just looked good to me, from the outside looking in. He's making his throws, reading the defense, changing his 'mike' calls and things like that. I just told him that if the game has slowed down this much for you, only great things can happen."
Moss played with Brady in 2007, and in 2009 and parts of 2010. Unfortunately for the football world, Brady was recovering from a torn ACL injury in 2009, so 2007 was really the only season the Brady-Moss connection was at its strongest.
But if Moss says that "the game has slowed down for [Brady]," what the heck type of game was Brady playing in 2007? Is Moss saying that Brady looks even better? Have we not seen Brady's final form?
Brady is still distracted with DeflateGate and he's not been able to give his full attention to the 2015 season. This might be the best case scenario for the rest of the league, because once Brady turns his eye to the upcoming season, he's going to treat the league like the 2009 Titans.
