Patriots Place WR Brandon Gibson on the Injured Reserve

The Patriots have made a corresponding roster move after signing Reggie Wayne.

The other shoe has fallen and wide receiver Brandon Gibson has been placed on the Patriots injured reserve list. Gibson's injury was on our list of reasons for why New England moved to sign receiver Reggie Wayne.

Gibson was in the midst of a strong preseason, partly due to the fact that he and Danny Amendola were the only healthy receivers on the roster with NFL experience, and he was making a pretty strong claim to the team's final roster spot for wide receivers. Unfortunately, a knee injury at the end of the Saints game derailed his goal.

Gibson's 2013 season was ruined after he suffered a knee injury while he was on the Dolphins. Coincidentally, the knee injury occurred against the Patriots.

Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels coached Gibson back in St. Louis with the Rams and was likely involved in signing the receiver as a free agent. It's clear that the Patriots had a plan in mind for getting the 6'0, 210 lbs Washington State graduate the football.

In another roster move, the Patriots have resigned the 6'2, 245 lbs rookie linebacker D.J. Lynch out of Bowling Green.

Best of luck to Gibson in his recovery.
