Patriots Waive Receiver Brian Tyms with Injury Designation

The Patriots are trying to put another wide receiver on the injured reserve.

The New England Patriots injuries are starting to make headlines. Rookie cornerback Darryl Roberts has a serious wrist injury that could require surgery and possibly end his season. Wide receiver Brandon Gibson was placed on the injured reserve with a knee injury.

And now wide receiver Brian Tyms has been waived with the injury designation, meaning that if no team claims him off waivers, he will revert to the Patriots injured reserve (IR).

Tyms sustained a foot injury that was deemed serious enough to end his season. Foot injuries are bad news for wide receivers because the recovery times are very inconsistent and the ability of the receiver varies. Tyms, as primarily a deep threat, will need his foot to be fully healthy in order to thrive.

With Tyms and Gibson on the injured reserve, and with the signing of Reggie Wayne, here's the Patriots current wide depth chart:

Outside: Brandon LaFell, Aaron Dobson, Chris Harper

Flex: Julian Edelman, Reggie Wayne, Josh Boyce, Zach D'Orazio

Slot: Danny Amendola, Jonathan Krause

Flex players can spend half their time in the slot and half their time outside of it.
