The New England Patriots are heading to Charlotte to take on the Carolina Panthers. Expect quarterback Tom Brady to play a considerable amount as this will be his final preseason tune-up before he expects to suit up in week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Through this point in the preseason, the Patriots haven't been fielding their top offensive unit. The offensive line has not lined up as a projected starting unit, Danny Amendola is the only starting wide receiver to see time, and Michael Hoomanawanui is the only top tight end to see the field.
New England just returned a handful of starters from injury, including receivers Julian Edelman and Aaron Dobson, and tight end Scott Chandler, so they might make an appearance in the game.
This will also be the first appearance for receiver Reggie Wayne, who will add a veteran presence to the positional unit.
As roster cuts down to 75 players take place on September 1st, the second half of the game will be key for roster battles. If a depth player doesn't see the field, then they might as well pack their bags. Keep your eyes open!
