Per the Boston Globe's Ben Volin, the NFL will be reinstating the New England Patriots equipment staff members John Jastremski and Jim McNally. Both staff members were suspended for their alleged roles in DeflateGate and required league approval prior to their reinstatement.
Jastremski and McNally will have new roles with the team, according to Volin's sources. The original penalty for the staff members prevented four-time Super Bowl champion Jastremski and part-time employee McNally from preparing footballs for the 2015 season. The new roles have yet to be determined, but will be figured out over the coming weeks.
The NFL has no proof that anything happened to the footballs and the public perception from the media has shifted against the league. The NFL's reinstatement of the staff members is related to their defeat in the courtroom where the NFL was considered to have overstepped their bounds in their investigation into quarterback Tom Brady.
