Week 3 Patriots vs Jaguars: Injury Report and Update

The New England Patriots are hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars and will have a major advantage: their health.

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots will almost be at full strength when the Jacksonville Jaguars come to town.

Yes, wide receiver Brandon LaFell is on the Physically Unable to Perform list; and yes, center Bryan Stork is on the Short Term Injured Reserve. But the current roster has had two weeks to adjust to those injuries and everyone else is ready to go.

OUT: C Ryan Wendell (illness); the offensive line captain hasn't played this season and has been out for personal reasons. While the exact story remains unknown, the Patriots have played the past two weeks without Wendell and the time frame for his return is day-by-day.

QUESTIONABLE: DT Dominique Easley (hip); the Boston Herald's Jeff Howe reports that Easley is expected to play against the Jaguars after missing Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills. Easley was the only starter that was seriously nicked up and his return means that the Patriots are healthy as they could expect three weeks into the season.

PROBABLE: DE Trey Flowers (knee), LB Dont'a Hightower (shoulder), CB Logan Ryan (shoulder); Flowers is likely a healthy scratch due to Geneo Grissom's and Rufus Johnson's special teams values, while Hightower and Ryan are expected to play key roles in the defense.

The Jaguars look like they could be missing as many as nine key players.

OUT: DE Andre Branch (knee), CB Dwayne Gratz (ankle), TE Julius Thomas (hand); Branch and Thomas are starters while Gratz was the top cornerback off the bench. All three will be missed.

DOUBTFUL: DT Sen'Derrick Marks (knee), RB Denard Robinson (knee); Marks is a top defensive lineman while Robinson was the Jaguars leading offensive player in 2014. Neither are expected to play.

QUESTIONABLE: S Johnathan Cyprien (calf), T Luke Joeckel (ankle), G Brandon Linder (knee); Cyprien is the Jaguars starting safety and is expected not to play, while Joeckel and Linder are both starters and considered game day decisions.

PROBABLE: RB Toby Gerhart (abdomen), WR Allen Hurns (thigh), WR Marqise Lee (hamstring); Gerhart is the team's back-up running back, but Hurns and Lee are the offense's 2nd and 3rd best receivers. Our friends at Big Cat Country don't believe Lee will be playing.

This means the Jaguars could be without six key starters (Branch, Marks, Cyprien, Thomas, Joeckel, Linder) or three top reserves (Gratz, Robinson, Lee). If Joeckel and/or Linder can't play, the Patriots are going to make quarterback Blake Bortles miserable all day.
