Patriots Release RB Travaris Cadet to Make Room for LB Jon Bostic

The Patriots have made a roster move to add a new linebacker to the roster.

Stew Milne-USA TODAY Sports

The Patriots had to make a roster move to add new linebacker Jon Bostic to the squad after the former Chicago Bears 2nd round pick passed his physical. Unfortunately, running back Travaris Cadet drew the short straw and has been released.

Cadet was expected to compete for the vacancy left by Shane Vereen, who departed for the New York Giants this offseason. The 6'1, 210-lbs former New Orleans Saints missed time with an injury and was passed in the depth chart by Dion Lewis and James White.

The return of LeGarrette Blount from a suspension meant the Patriots were carrying five running backs on the roster. With Lewis a star in the making, White a superior runner and blocker, Blount the best runner between the tackles, and Brandon Bolden a core special teams player, Cadet was the odd man out.
