Folks, I really tried my best, but it's hard to reason with the masses. The SB Nation writers came together to create the 2015 season's first power rankings and the reigning Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots aren't in the #1 spot. That's correct: the best team from 2014 doesn't have the respect of the rest of the league to start the 2015 season at the top of the list.
If we learned anything this offseason, it's that you'd better not miss when you come after the king. Well, the Patriots are #1 in our hearts until proven otherwise.
It turns out that only three other sites ranked the Patriots in the #1 spot:
Our 49ers affiliate, Niners Nation, from the hometown of Tom Brady and where they have an appreciation for winning Super Bowls.
Our Texans affiliate, Battle Red Blog, which, as Patriots South, has a full appreciation for all things New England.
Our Vikings affiliate, Daily Norseman, where it's against the law to rank the Packers #1 in any rankings, probably.
So if you're looking for an NFC team, look to Jordan Devey and the Niners (they need all the support they can get), or the Vikings (they were kind enough to help the Patriots draft Jamie Collins).
On the flip side, there were only four teams to vote the Patriots outside of the top five, and you probably can guess three of them off the top of your head. The Jets, Bills, and Dolphins all ranked the Patriots lower than the rest, while the Cowboys were the fourth as they continue to feel the title America's Team slip through their fingers.
