When it comes to injuries, the New England Patriots have had their fair share this year. Fortunately for them, most of their injured contributors – those not on injured reserve – are scheduled to return this week and play in Saturday's Divisional Round playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs might not be as lucky when it comes to their number one wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. Maclin left yesterday's 30-0 victory over the Houston Texans with a knee injury. Via Adam Schefter, an MRI made today revealed the following:
MRI showed Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin did NOT tear his ACL, per source. He suffered a high ankle sprain. Status for Saturday at NE uncertain.
The good news for Kansas City and of course Maclin, who has suffered an ACL tear in 2013, is that the injury is not as severe as it initially looked like. Still, the actual injury might force his team to keep the wide receiver out on Saturday. The 27-year old leads the Chiefs in receptions (90), yards (1,117) and touchdowns (8). His potential abscence would therefore be a blow to Kansas City's offensive attack and in turn make the Patriots defense's job easier.
