Per multiple reports, the Cleveland Browns are expected to make Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson their next head coach. New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia was in the running for the position, as well as for the Miami Dolphins role, but both have now been filled. It is likely that Patricia will remain in New England.
Jackson has served as offensive coordinator for Washington, Atlanta, Oakland, and Cincinnati, and even had a stint as the Raiders head coach in 2011, leading them to an 8-8 record. Jackson acquired Carson Palmer for a 1st and 2nd round pick. The Raiders fired Jackson, even though the 8-8 record was tied for the team's best since they reached the Super Bowl in 2002. Palmer has gone on to become a top three quarterback in Arizona.
The Patriots are fortunate to have Patricia around for another season or two as he continues to become one of the more desirable options in the coaching ranks. He's beloved by the players and he makes an attempt to support everyone on both sides of the ball. Whenever he gets his chance, Patricia will be ready.
