Patriots Injury Updates: Julian Edelman, Jamie Collins Aiming to Play Next Week

The New England Patriots suffered some key injuries during the game, but none of them are considered overly serious at this point in time. Here's a summary and update for every player.

C Bryan Stork

Bryan Stork left the game early with an ankle injury, but returned to the field after getting some extra tape for support. He should be available moving forward.

WR Julian Edelman

There were some reports that Edelman was receiving x-rays after the game, but the initial belief is that the Patriots were just being safe with some precautionary tests to ensure he made it through the game without a setback. He is looking forward to playing next week.

DE Chandler Jones

Jones pulled up with an apparent right knee injury and sat out the rest of the games. It was a noncontact injury, which could range from a pulled muscle to a simple cramp. He remained on the sideline at the end of the game, which is generally a positive sign.

LB Jamie Collins

Collins landed awkwardly on the ground after making a tackle and sat out the rest of the game with ice on his back. Per NEPD's Mike Loyko, Collins intends to play next week.

LB Dont'a Hightower

Hightower re-aggravated his knee sprain, but returned to the field pretty quickly after getting it tested on the sideline. He should be fine moving forward.

LB Jerod Mayo

Mayo hurt his shoulder and the Patriots declared him out. Back-up Jonathan Freeny came on the field late in the game, so this injury will be important to monitor. We'll provide updates when available.
