The New England Patriots are currently favored to win the AFC in 2016 and to face the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl, per Oddsshark. Keep in mind that these preliminary odds are more closely aligned with the fan bases that put down the most money, but there is a basic connection between these odds and the 2016 favorites.
The Patriots are returning the bulk of their team, while their competitors are going through upheavals. The Broncos could be without a starting quarterback next season, while many of their defensive starters will be free agents. The Colts are the oldest team in the NFL, and the Ravens and Steelers need their players to return from serious injuries.
The NFC odds are a little more straight forward, although very curious. The Panthers and Cardinals, the NFC's two finalists, don't rank in the top five for the conference.
