What are the Patriots Biggest Needs in Free Agency?

New, comments

The New England Patriots were able to make a deep push in the playoffs thanks to a few savvy additions in free agency. Defensive end Jabaal Sheard lived up to the expectations as one of the biggest signings, while linebacker Jonathan Freeny was a key back-up to help overcome injuries to the starters.

Some signings don't pan out, like tight end Scott Chandler or cornerback Bradley Fletcher.

Typically, the Patriots look to sign free agents for a few of reasons: 1) if the positional group is young and without proven ability, the team will try to sign a veteran to lead the group; 2) if the positional group is old, the team will try to sign a high upside player that was misused with their old team; 3) if the positional group is established, the team will try to sign a cheap back-up caliber player with special teams value.

Looking across the board, the team could use some help with a misused wide receiver, like the Raiders' Rod Streater, or an established leader at guard, like the 49ers' Alex Boone.

With team building processes in mind, what positions do you think the Patriots should address in free agency?
