When your curriculum vitae includes the words "Super Bowl champion", your chances at getting another job – one that is better paid and gives you more power – increase quite a bit. Apparently, that is exactly what happened to New England Patriots Director of Pro Scouting Bob Quinn: according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Detroit Lions have hired Quinn to become their next General Manager.
The 39-year old Quinn has worked his way up the ladder in New England. He started as a scouting assistant and within his 12-year career in Foxboro became Director of Pro Scouting. However, with Director of Pro Personnel Nick Caserio under contract until after the 2020 season, his current position was the highest one achievable for Quinn.
Therefore, it does not come as a major surprise to see him set his sails and ship west to Detroit. It seems as if Quinn's assistant – Dave Ziegler – is the leading candidate to replace the Norwood, Massachusetts native in New England's scouting department. Ziegler joined the Patriots in 2013 and, just like Caserio and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, calls John Carroll University his alma mater.
Good luck in Michigan, Bob!
