The 6’4, 305 pound Douglas was the 114th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, three picks after the Patriots selected OG Tre Jackson. Douglas started 6 games at guard and center for the Dolphins as a rookie, but did not make the 2016 roster. Douglas spent the first month of the season on the Dolphins practice squad and was promoted for one game.
The Patriots released OL Ian Silberman from the practice squad to make space for Douglas.
The Patriots also worked out two offensive tackles in Ryan Mack and Pearce Slater, along with defensive end Jordan Williams. These are players to watch if the Patriots suffer an injury on the offensive line, or if the Patriots try to move Geneo Grissom back to the practice squad and are unsuccessful.
The Patriots practice squad is now:
OG Chris Barker
OG Jamil Douglas
WR Shaq Evans
OG Chase Farris
RB Tyler Gaffney
FB Glenn Gronkowski
WR Devin Lucien
RB Bishop Sankey
SS Vinnie Sunseri
WR DeAndrew White
Sunseri is the lone defensive player on the practice squad after the Patriots promoted Grissom and DT Anthony Johnson to the active roster last week.
