It only took two games under center, but New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is now the favorite to win NFL’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, per Bovada.
Brady had been tied with Packers QB Aaron Rodgers prior to week 6, and trailed Falcons QB Matt Ryan. Well, Rodgers is in freefall, while Ryan (probably unfairly) dropped after the Falcons lost to the Seahawks.
Brady is now the favorite to win NFL MVP with 5/2 odds after back-to-back knockout performances against the Browns and Bengals. Ryan is second with 15/2 odds, followed by Cowboys rookie RB Ezekiel Elliott and Seahawks QB Russell Wilson tied at 8/1.
Rodgers is sitting with 12/1 odds, while Vikings QB Sam Bradford is tied with Cardinals RB David Johnson and Cowboys rookie QB Dak Prescott with 16/1 odds. Prescott was not up for consideration by Vegas prior to this week.
The MVP award favorites align with the current Super Bowl 51 favorites, with the Patriots sitting well above the pack with 3/1 odds. The Vikings are second with 7/1 odds and the Seahawks are within spitting distance at 15/2.
The Cowboys have climbed the rankings to be in fourth with 10/1 odds, while the Packers are in a tie with the Steelers with 12/1 odds. The Cardinals have 14/1 odds, while the Falcons and Chiefs are tied with 18/1 odds. It’s pretty clear that the NFC is considered to be a deeper conference than the AFC.
The Patriots are obviously the favorites to win the AFC and they’re a coin toss with 6/5 odds. The Steelers (5/1), Chiefs (15/2), Broncos (9/1), Raiders (12/1), Texans (14/1), and Bills (16/1) are the other teams in the running.
The Steelers have fallen after the injury to QB Ben Roethlisberger because a Patriots victory this upcoming Sunday would create a very steep hill for Pittsburgh to climb to win homefield advantage.
